ON THE LINE-UP Pádraig Stephens and Leo Moran are among the musicians set to perform at a special fundraiser next month.
Anyone seen the strange posters around Westport just saying save the date and wondering what it is about? Well, read on and all will be revealed.
On Friday, March 13, over 40 musicians are gathering in Westport for a night of music and storytelling in the Castlecourt Dome Suite for a special event entitled ‘Jennie’s smile’. It will be a celebration of the life and loves of Jennie Kilroy Durkan, with all funds going towards Westport Lions Club’s efforts to raise €30,000 to support mental-health programmes in the community for the next three years.
The organisers are delighted to have the generous support of Pádraig Stephens and Leo Moran, of The Saw Doctors fame, who will perform an acoustic set – as well as The Clew Bay Pipe Band, Westport Junior Comhaltas, Tommy Hodgins, Laoise Kelly, Coda, McGinty and Keegan, Cobblers Seisiúns and many more on the line-up.
The idea of the evening is to celebrate the lives of those that we have loved and lost while raising awareness about the help available for friends and family who are struggling. The night will be hosted by John Hoban and Joanne Keegan.
Tickets (€20 each) go on sale today (Tuesday). The are available from the Plaza Hotel, Westport, or online via a link posted on the ‘Westport Lions Club, Mayo Ireland’ Facebook page.
